To pee or not to pee...

That is the question. First of all, I would like to say Hi and Welcome to ICLW visitors. My TTC history can be found in the column over there ---------->

So back to my question. For my first time visitors, I am 11 and 12dp B2B IUI's. I was feeling pretty good about this cycle, my first with follistim. I had 3 follies and B's sperm rocked as usual, about 50 million post wash both days. As I said, I was feeling good until yesterday when the telltale signs of AF began to arise. I know some of it can be blamed on the progesterone (sore boobs, tired all the time) but I swear, before I get my period, I can feel it in my uterus. I don't even know how to describe it, it's this crampy/achey feeling that I only get that time of the month, which for me is very infrequent, so when I do feel it, I know what is coming.

So to pee on a stick or wait until beta on Tuesday? I am on progesterone supps so it is unlikely I will get my period before I stop them. Thoughts? If it makes a difference, I "borrowed" some pregnancy tests from work, so I don't have to buy them.

  1. I try to wait, but the anticipation (fear & excitement) drives me nuts. I'd say test. :)

  2. Stopping by for ICLW... it's so hard to wait, but waiting as late as possible is always best for me. It creates so much confusion if it's still early and a negative! Wish you luck on this cycle!

  3. That's a hard one, I tested the day before our beta I just had to have an idea which way it was going to go before going to the clinic. Wishing you the best & hopefully at BFP!

  4. I say Pee!! I actually started spotting 13dpo and thought I was out. And didn't call for my blood test the next day. The spotting actually ended that night. So Thursday morning I woke up and AF still wasn't in full effect so I tested and it was positive! And just like you I can feel when AF is coming. In fact I still feel like she is on her way any second, but I'm also on progesterone which causes the same symptoms.

    Happy ICLW!!

  5. The waiting is hard, and I never did well with it. I would spend a ridiculous amount of money on tests (and I probably will again when we're trying for #2).

Good luck and blessings on this cycle!

    Happy ICLW!

  6. I've always been anti POAS, however I have to admit that I've got a few tests in my cabinet waiting. What if you only POAS if it means you can have some time alone with your results - either way?

  7. Dropping by for ICLW! I could never wait...lol Good luck to you!

  8. I always prefer to test so I'm eased into the bad news (alas the news keeps being bad) rather than having it come down so violently on me all at once. Of course if it's good news, then you just have more time to be happy and less time to worry.

  9. I'm the last person to ask, I've never POAS til I was at least 2 weeks late.

Good luck with this cycle regardless of what you decide to do tho!!

  10. Hi from ICLW! I've spent my whole life taking care of other people's kids, too. I totally relate to that irony of life...

Hoping for a fabulous outcome to your IUIs! (I have absolutely no patience so I would be peeing.) Lots of luck and good thoughts for you!

  11. Here from ICLW! I say - pee! I was convinced AF was coming when I got my BFP. Hope the same applies to you!

  12. Hello from ICLW! I always opt for "not to pee" until at least the day my period is supposed to arrive. I like being in the sometimes delusional state of hope, even when all signs point to her coming! But when you've got an HPT lying around, it's so tempting. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  13. Love that you "borrowed some tests."

  14. I almost always wait until AF is late because I think that is less painful than seeing a BFN. But, if you have the free tests and would rather know before your appointment, I say go for it! GL!

  15. You have will power. I think I am addicted to peeing on sticks! :) Especially if they are free! Good luck and Happy ICLW!

  16. Happy ICLW! I am actually opposite from most.. I hate testing! After 8 years of seeing 1 line, you start to get pissed off at the tests! For some reason seeing AF is less painful that seeing that one, solitary line. *~* GOOD LUCK! *~*

  18. I'm a terrible person to ask this question! I usually start POAS around 9DPO (or DPIUI in this case). I can never hold out. I really hope that whatever you decide, you get good news!

    Happy ICLW!

  20. Waiting sucks but if you have "borrowed tests" then I say go for it! The worst part about testing, other than getting results you don't want, is paying for those suckers! Gah! Good luck!

  21. I didn't pee, but I can tell you that I totally felt PMS-y right before my positive beta with my girls.

Good luck with whichever route you choose!

  22. Here from ICLW! I always say I'd wait, but I am not good at waiting for things myself. So, my advice would be wait if you can, but if not, go for it and don't beat yourself up about not waiting. Good luck with your decision!

  23. I always test before beta. I would rather be upset at home then at work or in public. I would also like to get excited with DH the moment we can know.

  24. Sorry to hear about the result :(

I do hope #4 is the lucky one for you.

I know that moving one with another cycle is really, really hard. With every failed cycle, I wanted to call it quits.

Again, I'm so sorry this cycle didn't work out. (Hugs)

  25. Happy ICLW! I always POAS before the beta. First, I'm impatient and can't wait that long. Second, I would MUCH rather find out the result on my own rather than waiting for that phone call from the nurse. That way, I'm composed either way when the nurse does call. I wish you all the luck!

  26. Happy ICWL week. I never use HPT. I just think that there are too many stories of false pos and neg. I know I am in the minority, but to me it just drags outs the bad news. You pee and then you still need to wait for the confirmation of the beta. If you do pee, maybe do so the morning of the beta this way you minimize that time between test and beta.
    Good luck.
Hoping that these symptoms are a big fake out!!!
