Moving right along...

Welcome all from ICLW! You can read about my TTC over that way ------->

Long story short, after 2 years of trying, we are moving on to IVF. Today I had my saline ultrasound and mock transfer. It wasn't to bad although apparently I have a sensitive uterus. My Dr was surprised at how I knew immediately when she was pushing in more fluid. Also my cervix is pretty tightly closed so during my ER she is going to dilate it a smidge to ensure the catheter passes in easily and quickly the day of my transfer. I also had lots of blood drawn.

When I had talked to the IVF nurse a few weeks ago, we had planned in cycling early march with an estimated ER on 3/17 but my doctor asked me today if I would consider pushing it back because she would be out of town that week and even though one of her partners could do it, she really wanted to be there. She is so sweet. So now we are looking at 3/24 as our estimated date. At least now I don't have to worry about starting Lupron while we are on vacation in Florida at the end of February.

I still have a consultation next week with Dr.P. He has come highly recommended from my acupuncturist, a good friend and lots of women in my support group. He is an Ob/Gyn that uses NaPro Technology and the Creighton Model. To be honest, I really don't buy into it but so many people have said such wonderful things about him I figured it can't hurt to have a consultation. I still do think there is something wrong with my hormones that my RE can't figure out so maybe he has another idea. Has anyone had any experience with this method?

  1. I felt that fluid too....ooh boy!!!!

Our retrieval for IVF #2 will likely (hopefully, that is) be right around that same time! Sorry you have to wait longer now but glad you don't have the stress of starting Lupron while on vacay!

  2. I'm going to have to look up the Creighton model. You're right, it can't hurt to have a consultation. I'll stay tuned to hear how it goes next week. Happy ICLW and best wishes for your upcoming IVF cycle.

  6. ICLW visitor!

Much luck on your IVF cycle! I haven't heard of the Creighton/other thing but I always think a second opinion is a good idea. Sometimes its nice to have a fresh pair of eyes.

  7. ICLW visitor as well. I personally don't place much stock in the Creighton method, but I do "know" (online) some people who feel it gave them some answers--they were all 'unexplained' and think they now have their explanations. It's worth I shot, I'd say.

    Good luck!

  8. I haven't heard about either of those, but have unexplained IF/something acting like PCOS but not really PCOS. I really believe there is something there that is just being missed.

I'm glad you have a good RE. We loved ours and he even reads my blog to follow the girls' life! It is such a blessing to have someone you like on your side.

Good luck with your IVF and have fun on vacation!

  10. happy ICLW week.
I wanted to wish you the very best of luck on this upcoming IVF cycle. I wanted to let you know that while I have not heard of those methods, I did acupuncture with IVF and found those sessions soooooo relaxing. It really helped to keep me calm. Keep us posted on what you think after the consult.

  15. Hi there, I'm a first time reader and I had to chime in here b/c I talked to someone just today who did NaPro and it was successful. She did it as an alternative to IVF. She said her doc that did the surgery told her it used to be a lot more popular before IVF came on the scene but it's not used much anymore b/c it doesn't bring in the big bucks like IVF. This was the first I'd of heard of it so I definitely intend to research. Please let us know what you find out!

  18. I am happy to hear your mock transfer went so well :) Are they going to give you a vagina suppository to help dilate you or do it some other way? Just curious...Sending you all the luck :)
